Morning

the coolest time of day

full of dew and promise

hours open before you

the sun yet rising

flowers facing the beams,

following the warmth across the sky

as the day lengthens

did you know

if the sun is not available

to retain warmth

sunflowers will face each other?

on those mornings

when you awake

and clouds obscure your skies

threatening storms

on those bad days

my dear

instead of lamenting the grey

look not to the lightning

nor drown your sorrow in the rain

but turn your face instead

towards mine

and we shall be

each other’s light
